Sophie McCotter, MSW Intern
Sophie is originally from Utah and relocated to Rochester in 2022. She received a Bachelor’s of Science in Music Therapy and a minor in Portuguese from Utah State University. She engaged in 10 months of volunteer service in Juiz de Fora, Brazil and is fluent in Portuguese. Most recently, Sophie has worked providing case management services for local refugee populations. Previous internships include providing music therapy services at several agencies serving children and adolescents with disabilities.
Sophie strives to create an empathetic and safe space to allow clients to express themselves and find ways for healing and growth. Collaboration on individualized goals and strategies can help clients feel well-equipped and empowered in navigating challenges.
Sophie is currently completing her final semester of her Masters of Science in Social Work from University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a Certificate in Trauma Treatment and is estatic to be on the Balanced Mind Clinical Services team
